Euronext Posts Record Q3 as Revenue Jumps 25% and It Announces a 350 Million Euro Buyback
Direct answer
Euronext, the company that runs the Paris, Amsterdam and several other European stock exchanges, reported its best ever quarterly results for the third quarter of 2026. Revenue and income rose 24.9% from a year earlier to 547.4 million euros, profit rose 30.2%, and the company announced a 350 million euro share buyback.
What happened
Euronext released its third quarter results on November 5, 2026, and held its earnings call on November 6. Total revenue and income reached 547.4 million euros, up 24.9% from the same quarter last year. On a like for like basis, which strips out acquisitions and currency moves, revenue rose 17.6% to 519.5 million euros.
Adjusted EBITDA, a measure of operating profit, rose 31.6% to 364.2 million euros, ahead of the 343.9 million euros analysts had forecast in a company compiled poll. The adjusted EBITDA margin reached a record 66.5%, up 3.3 percentage points from a year earlier.
Reported net income rose 30.2% to 194.9 million euros, with basic earnings per share of 1.92 euros, up 28.9%. Adjusted net income rose 32% to 223.2 million euros, with adjusted earnings per share of 2.21 euros, up 31.5%.
The strongest growth came from fixed income, currencies and commodities, known as FICC, where revenue jumped 48.1% to 121.3 million euros. Equity trading revenue rose 33% to 124.6 million euros, helped by market volatility, growth in ETFs, and the contribution from Euronext Athens. MTS Cash trading, a bond trading platform, reached a record average daily volume of 88.1 billion euros, up 80.4% from a year earlier.
Non trading related revenue, such as data and listing services, made up 55% of total revenue. Capital markets and data solutions revenue rose 14.1% to 192.2 million euros.
Alongside the results, Euronext announced a share buyback programme of up to 350 million euros, and lowered its 2026 cost guidance to 760 million euros from 770 million euros. Chief executive Stephane Boujnah said it was the strongest quarterly performance since the company went public, and the tenth straight quarter of double digit growth.
Boujnah is set to step down next May and will be replaced by David Knibbe, head of Dutch insurance and asset management firm NN Group, according to Financial News.
Why it matters for beginners
A stock exchange makes money from fees when investors trade, and from listing and data services. When markets are busy and volatile, trading fees rise, and so does the exchange’s profit. That is what happened here: high volatility and strong bond and equity trading lifted Euronext to a record quarter.
A buyback is worth understanding too. When a company buys back its own shares, it reduces the number of shares in circulation. Each remaining share then represents a slightly larger slice of the company. Companies usually do this when they have spare cash and believe their shares are good value.
The contrast with another exchange operator is instructive. Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing reported a small profit fall in the same quarter as trading cooled there, which you can read about in our post on the Hong Kong exchange profit slip: https://investclaritypath.com/hong-kong-stock-exchange-q3-profit-slips-2026/ . The same kind of company can have very different quarters depending on how busy its own markets are.
What to watch next
Watch whether trading volumes stay strong in the fourth quarter. Euronext’s record quarter was driven by busy markets, so quieter markets would slow its growth quickly.
Watch the buyback too. It will take time to complete, and the company will report how much it has bought back in future results.
Watch the leadership change as well. Boujnah steps down next May, and the new chief executive, David Knibbe, will set the direction from there.
FAQ
What is Euronext?

What is a share buyback?
It is when a company buys its own shares back from the market and cancels them. It reduces the number of shares in circulation, so each remaining share owns a slightly bigger part of the company.
Why did Euronext beat expectations?
