Arrow Electronics Beats Earnings Forecasts but Shares Fall 13% as Chip Sell-Off Hits

Direct answer

Arrow Electronics reported its best quarter ever on November 5, 2026, with record revenue and profit that beat Wall Street forecasts. Its shares still fell about 13 percent on the day, because the whole chip sector was selling off at the same time.

What happened

Arrow sells electronic parts and computer systems to other businesses. It is one of the largest distributors of its kind in the world.

Revenue rose 39 percent to $10.72 billion in the quarter ended October 3, 2026. That was above the top of Arrow’s own guidance of $9.6 billion to $10.2 billion, and above the $10.07 billion analysts expected.

Non-GAAP earnings per share were $6.22, up 158 percent from $2.41 a year earlier and well above the $5.06 consensus forecast. The official GAAP figure was $6.17 per share, up from $2.09 a year earlier.

Global Components, the larger business, had sales of $7.94 billion, up 43 percent, helped by higher prices for memory chips. Global Enterprise Computing Solutions had sales of $2.78 billion, up 29 percent.

For the fourth quarter, Arrow guided to revenue of $11.55 billion to $12.15 billion and non-GAAP earnings of $7.00 to $7.20 per share. Both were above what analysts expected.

There was a catch in the numbers. Management said most of the Components growth came from higher prices, mainly for memory, rather than selling many more units. Arrow also used $441 million of operating cash in the quarter, as inventory rose $1.4 billion to $7.3 billion.

Why it matters for beginners

A strong result does not always lift a share price. When a whole market or sector falls, even a good report can be swept along. Arrow fell on the same day the S&P 500 had its worst day since April 2025 and the Nasdaq entered a correction. This is also a lesson in reading past the headline. Revenue and profit beat forecasts, but the growth was mostly price rises in memory chips, and cash flow was negative because the company stocked up on inventory. Beginners should look at what is driving the numbers, not just whether they beat a forecast.

A single share can also fall for reasons that have nothing to do with its own results. Our guide to what risk means in investing explains market risk, the risk that prices fall because the whole market falls: https://investclaritypath.com/what-is-risk-in-investing/

What to watch next

Watch Friday’s October US jobs report, and whether the chip sell-off continues into another session. Watch whether memory chip prices keep rising or cool off, since much of Arrow’s growth came from prices. And watch Arrow’s fourth quarter results against its own guidance of $11.55 billion to $12.15 billion in revenue.

FAQ

What does Arrow Electronics do?

It distributes electronic components and enterprise computing products to manufacturers and other businesses. It buys parts in bulk from makers and sells them on to customers.

What is non-GAAP earnings per share?

It is profit per share after removing some one-off items, which companies use to show underlying performance. It is not the same as the official GAAP figure, which was $6.17 per share for Arrow in this quarter.

Why did the shares fall after a good report?

The whole chip sector fell sharply on the same day, and investors also noted that growth was mostly price rises and that operating cash flow was negative. A beat does not guarantee a rise on the day.

Does a 13 percent fall mean the company is in trouble?

Not on its own. One day of selling, even a big one, does not tell you how the business will do over the next year. The fourth quarter guidance was strong, which is why the fall looks like a market move rather than a company problem.
