Tapestry Shares Jump as Coach Sales Lift Its Outlook

Direct answer

Tapestry, the company behind Coach and Kate Spade, reported stronger than expected results on November 5, 2026, and raised its outlook for the year. Its shares jumped in early trading as investors welcomed the news.

What happened

Tapestry’s quarterly sales rose 11.1 percent to $1.89 billion, above the $1.86 billion analysts expected, according to data compiled by LSEG. Adjusted profit was $1.82 per share, above the $1.57 analysts expected. Reuters reported the results on November 5, 2026.

Coach did most of the work. Sales at Coach rose 16 percent, helped by strong demand from younger shoppers in North America and a 43 percent jump in revenue in China. Kate Spade sales fell 10 percent from a year ago, and Reuters noted that momentum slowed slightly in North America, the company’s biggest market.

Tapestry also raised its forecasts for the full fiscal year. It now expects revenue of $8.5 billion to $8.6 billion, up from $8.4 billion to $8.5 billion before, and adjusted earnings per share of $8.25 to $8.35, up from $7.80 to $7.90. It plans to buy back $1.7 billion of its own shares this fiscal year, $350 million more than planned before.

Shares were up nearly 12 percent in premarket trading after the results, Reuters reported.

Why it matters for beginners

A company raises its outlook when it expects the good run to continue, and that is often why a share price moves after results. The numbers matter more than the headlines: sales beat the forecast, profit beat the forecast, and the forecast itself went up.

One strong brand can carry a whole company. Coach drove the beat while Kate Spade fell, so the result is not strong in every part of the business.

A share buyback means the company buys its own shares. That can support the share price, but it is not a promise of future gains.

What to watch next

Holiday season sales for Coach, the biggest test of the new outlook, since the company is counting on shoppers buying Coach bags as gifts.

Whether Kate Spade stops falling or keeps dragging on results.

Whether the wider luxury slowdown catches up with Tapestry, as rivals such as Kering, LVMH, and Hermes face fresh pressure.

The next quarterly update, when Tapestry reports again and investors check whether the raised forecasts still hold.

Frequently asked questions

What is Tapestry?

Tapestry is the parent company of the Coach and Kate Spade brands. It sells handbags and accessories, mostly in the mid priced luxury range.

Why did Tapestry shares jump?

Results beat expectations on sales and profit, and the company raised its full-year revenue and profit forecasts. Shares rose nearly 12 percent in premarket trading.

What is an outlook?

An outlook is a company’s own forecast for future sales and profit. It can go up or down as conditions change, so it is a plan, not a promise.

Does a higher share price mean the shares are a good buy?

No. A price move reflects today’s news. It does not promise future gains, and a single company can fall sharply even after a good quarter.
