Amdocs Shares Plunge as T-Mobile Dispute Clouds 2027 Outlook
Direct answer
Amdocs shares plunged on November 4, 2026, after the company warned that revenue could fall 14% to 18% in fiscal 2027. The main reason given was a dispute with T-Mobile, one of its biggest customers, which could lead to contracts being ended.

What happened
Amdocs sells software and services to telecom companies, including billing and customer management systems. Late on Tuesday, November 3, it issued a weak forecast for fiscal 2027, which ends on September 30, 2027. Shares fell about 44% in after-hours trading on Tuesday, to about $34.50, from a close of $62.43.
On Wednesday, November 4, the shares recovered part of that fall but still sank 27% to $45.50, according to Barron’s, citing Dow Jones Market Data. That was the largest percentage fall in 24 years, since June 21, 2002, when shares fell 41%.
The forecast was well below what analysts expected. Amdocs guided first quarter fiscal 2027 revenue to $955 million to $995 million, against a consensus expectation of about $1.2 billion. For the full fiscal year, it forecast a revenue decline of 14% to 18%, and non-GAAP earnings per share down 26% to 30%.
Chief Executive Shimie Hortig said the outlook reflected major headwinds from T-Mobile, the completion of the USCellular customer integration project, and a reduction in T-Mobile’s discretionary spending. Amdocs and T-Mobile have issued notices to each other, each alleging that the other has materially breached agreements for software and services. Both notices include threats to end the agreements or pursue legal action for financial compensation. Amdocs said no termination has occurred, but its guidance allows for the possibility that either side ends the agreements.
Amdocs also said it will buy US insurance software company EIS for $340 million in cash, as a step into a new industry and a search for new growth. It expects a return to growth in fiscal 2028, with mid-single-digit revenue growth and high-single-digit earnings growth. Oppenheimer downgraded the stock to Perform from Outperform on Wednesday, citing the extremely weak fiscal 2027 guidance.
Why it matters for beginners
A share price can fall sharply even when a company reports results in line with expectations, because investors react most to the outlook. Guidance is management’s own forecast for a future period. When that forecast is much weaker than expected, investors may lower their view of future earnings, and the price can fall fast.
This story also shows concentration risk in simple terms. When one large customer matters a lot to a business, a dispute with that customer can change the whole outlook. A related beginner guide explains risk in simple terms: https://investclaritypath.com/what-is-risk-in-investing/
One bad day does not by itself prove a company will fail, and a sharp fall does not by itself make a share a bargain. This article is for education only and does not recommend buying or selling any shares.

FAQ
What does Amdocs do?
Amdocs provides software and services to telecom companies, including billing management and customer systems.
Why did the shares fall so sharply?
Because fiscal 2027 guidance was far weaker than analysts expected, with revenue forecast to fall 14% to 18%, and because the guidance allows for the loss of T-Mobile business.
Has T-Mobile ended its contracts with Amdocs?
No. Amdocs said no termination has occurred, but both sides have issued breach notices and the guidance includes a scenario in which agreements are ended.
What is guidance?
Guidance is a company’s own forecast for a future period, such as next quarter revenue or earnings. Actual results can differ from guidance.
What is non-GAAP earnings per share?
It is earnings per share after removing selected accounting items, so it is often used to compare underlying performance. It should be read alongside GAAP results, which follow standard accounting rules.
